We at Discover Multisport feel very passionate about the effects we are having on our environment and have decided to become the only carbon neutral event company in Scotland.

Climate change is real, we are all responsible for it and we all must be part of the solution!

This increase in CO2 from roughly 280 parts per million (ppm) prior to the Industrial Revolution to about 392 ppm today is having a dramatic impact on our climate, both warming our climate and altering our weather with more droughts and more very extreme weather events. Our sea levels are rising and entire countries are at risk of disappearing. If the Greenland glaciers fail, global sea levels could rise by 20 feet, swamping low level areas around the world, including Florida and Manhattan, causing global catastrophe.

The cause of climate change is manmade and we must all do our part to protect our environment.

We are launching our new ” Tri Going Carbon ” triathlon event series this summer and will focus our efforts in providing recyclable and reusable items in all of our event goodie bags, recycling and composting bins during the events and will provide public transport information and car share schemes to reduce our effects on the environment.

Scot was keen to set up a business that allowed other cyclists to experience the same passion that he has for cycling in the Scottish Highlands. Scot has been a keen amateur road cyclist for many years and has several years experience of organising and running open road races for British Cycling. He has raced throughout Scotland, both on and off road and taken part in numerous sportives. An enthusiastic, some would say obsessed, club cyclist Scot has brought this love of the sport to the business. Scot is also a British Cycling event organiser, British Cycling Level 2 Coach (with discipline specific units in road, time-trial and mountain bike) and an Assistant Commissaire. He is also a qualified trail cycle leader.
In the Summer of 2009 Skinny Tyres was recognised by Scottish Enterprise when they won the prestigious Tourism Innovation Fund Award, and were also shortlisted as a finalist in the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Star Awards category for new business.

Based in Highland Perthshire, Skinny Tyres was set up to give cyclists from across the world the opportunity to experience some of the best cycling roads in Europe. Our trips let you ride with like-minded individuals and have the luxury of all aspects of your trip being catered for, allowing you to concentrate on pushing those pedals. We are concious that a lot of people new to the sport are keen to find as much out about cycling as possible and at Skinny Tyres, we are keen to create that friendly environment where you can ask all those questions and gain knowledge from our experienced guides.

Skinny Tyres packages are all-inclusive providing fitness training, workshops, accommodation, meals, massage, entertainment and on-road cycling along some of the most spectacular routes in Scotland. No part of your trip will be overlooked to ensure your needs are met, so all you need to do is ride. In addition, we can organise bespoke days, weekends and full weeks for individuals, corporate clients, cycling clubs, groups and families.

We are pleased to announce Scot has agreed to join us in our training camps and coach the cycling sessions, follow link for more information on Scot or Skinny tyres.http://www.SkinnyTyres.com/

This is your chance to be a part of the most exciting triathlon series to be held in Scotland in 2013!!

Our ” Tri Across Scotland ” series will see competitors complete a swim festival, Super Spint, Sprint, Standard, Middle distance and finally an Iron man event in some of the most breathtaking locations Scotland has to offer.

We are trying to lead the future of triathlon in Scotland with our ” Tri Across Scotland ” series and are dedicated to ensuring all our events will be carbon neutral. As I am sure you will agree, this is an issue that is important to all of us, and by helping to reduce our environmental impact we can create a safer and sustainable environment.

We will be working with local authorities to provide excellent train/ bus links and the supply of recycling and composting bins to reduce the effect our event will have on the landscape. We would also encourage you to do your part and car share where possible and recycle your waste.

John Dyer open water swimmer

Why do I love open water swimming? I’ve often thought about that mainly because of most peoples reaction of incredulity at my exploits. I’ve realised though that wildswimming feels right and feels natural. I have swam in some of the most beautiful and scenic spots in the land. I feel part of the animal world and not an intruder in it. The uncertainty of the depths I’m swimming in along with the currents and tides I negotiate is like the daily journey I make in the other world called ‘life.’ The difference being the feeling when wildswimming of control and excitement that is always present and is occasional in my daily life. Meeting people from varied backgrounds, who when they swim together encourage and support one another is a plus. I’m very pleased to report that the past trend for open water swimming to be seen as ‘elitest’ and only to be done without a wetsuit on is eroding fast. More people than ever are taking a plunge on the wild side and I feel there isn’t a right way or a wrong way to be a wildswimmer, you do it your way! So come on dive in with or without wetsuit, few ever regret it.Daily life nowadays is more regulated than ever and wildswimming gives me the chance and the space to feel free and ‘natural’. What’s not to enjoy about that?
